I'm glad there is a deserved buzz still going on about your AI audition. I was wondering what happened. You were awesome, "one of" if not "the best", a standout. I'm happy to have found your website. I'm confident the right people will find you.

Jon Batte (Tims Son)

You sound awesome like always, American Idol wasnt your thing, keep doing what your doing everyone is proud of you. Good Luck!

I just saw the article everyone is talking about here. My dad got me into all the great music from the hippie era, and you reminded so much of Janis Joplin, it was a pitty they didn't put you through on AI (america will see more of you im sure), you would have had mine and my girls vote, let me know when you tour in NY. Keep Rockin Girl!!!!

I am 50 yr old former hippie and I am seriously disappointed you can't get my idol vote. You are unique yet nostalgic and a star in this sea of the same old S***.

You would have had my vote all the way. Now I'll give you my vote by buying your cd as soon as I can. You rock, without a doubt! No blah here! Superstar! :D

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
Albert Einstein

Nuff said... Don't quit...You've got "IT".

Cora

March 6, 2007

You guys beat me to it! I just read that article and came racing over here to mention it. :)

Kudos, Tami - looks like we're not the only ones who wanted more of you on AI!

March 6, 2007

This is what they said in the article:

>>"Remember Tami Gosnell, the pedicab driver from Colorado? Now there was a star. When she sang "Whipping Post" during her audition, it was like that scene in "The Queen" when Helen Mirren's Queen Elizabeth is nearly rendered speechless by the sight of a magnificent, elusive stag. Such moments happen rarely, when we least expect them.

So invigorating was Gosnell's bluesy, natural performance that it required another viewing, courtesy of DVR. She had a certain something -- a quality that can vaguely be described as "IT."

She was also inexplicably cut after this year's Hollywood rounds. In a sea of "blah," Gosnell certainly stood out."

March 6, 2007

There's a nice shout-out to you on CNN.com - here is the link: http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/06/tv.idolblahs.ap/index.html

You are a star. Too bad AI judges let you go, but I truly believe America has not seen the last of you. Let me know if you ever tour in the East. Wishing you all the best from PA.

March 6, 2007

I’m happy you tried out for AI because I discovered a great new talent. You killed on Whipping Post. After that performance I don’t understand how they could eliminate you. Here’s the thing…….we never know how we might get to the thing we want the most but the universe knows and you will arrive. AI couldn’t pigeonhole you and really, you wouldn’t want that. I’ve watched the show from time to time however my favorite has never won and I usually get disgusted and quit watching. They keep saying they want someone original, someone who stands out, but they really don’t. They want a “Pop” singer who conforms to the way they want them to dress, sing, etc. They have good “stories” for those they want to make it to the finals. So anyway, you know its way too homogenized for a soul like yours. Keep on writing and rockin’. Would love to see you play Nashville. We have more than country music in this town. We definitely rock. I’ll keep checking your upcoming shows and hope to see you soon.

oliviasaintlaurent

March 6, 2007

I absolutely love your work. I think American Idol is totally off-track this season... I thought for sure you were in the top 24. Anyway, you have all my support and admiration, stay true to yourself,

March 1, 2007

For the life of me I can't figure out how you didn't make it to the top 24 on AI! I could have sworn I heard Simon mentioning he was looking for something "different" this year.

Oh well, it's their loss!

Echo Kirkland

March 1, 2007

My husband and I were really upset that you didn't make it to the top 24 on AI. We loved your sound from the moment you started singing. We love to listen to Janis Joplin, and the sounds of that kind of rock. I will be ordering your CD and adding your site to my favorites so we can keep up with your career. I will have to tell everyone I can to check it out. I think you would have been a breath of fresh air to the AI show and it is totally their loss. Don't give up and keep on keepin' on.

Terri Wilber

March 1, 2007

I was really bummed that you didn't make the top 24 on AI. You clearly were in the top 3 women. I know the future holds bright things for you and will be looking for you around the Denver area so I can enjoy more of your soulful insights. Now I have to scroll back and order that CD!!

(p.s. Ever listen to Antigone Rising? it's like you both have the same Muse! and you both ROCK!!)

Hey there! I knew a long time ago that you would do something with music. You were always singing on softball trips. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. I look forward to getting your CD.

Your CD was just delivered - you're even more amazing than I thought!

February 24, 2007

Hello,
I'm not much of a TV watcher but I happened to catch your audition for AI and went running to the computer to find out more about you. So glad I did--I've ordered the CD (I buy about one CD every 2-3 years) and have been walking around the house singing "Can you hear us..." for days. I love your voice and your songs.

Jill, Rodrigo, and Ben

February 23, 2007

Tam,
We love you so much and are so proud of you. You have got it all!Talent, charisma, truth, and humor. You are an amazing woman! We are with you all the way.

Just watched the New Town Fairy video snippet on You Tube. Good stuff. More, please!
And I can't wait for my CD of SS to get here!

Jenny

February 22, 2007

What a shame that AI let such a beautiful voice go...When I saw your audition, I thought to myself "now here is a woman that can win" and now they made the biggest mistake of letting you go. I do hope you try again in the next season. I was also glad to see you have a CD and just bought it. Cant wait to get it in the mail. Take Care.

Tara

February 22, 2007

My guess is that Janis Joplin would be too "unlady like", Melissa Etheridge would be "too gay" and Macy Gray probably not "pretty" enough for American Idol... but they have all changed the music world and are/were incredibly talented and gifted women... You have a natural talent, you don't need a "pop" makeover and hopefully your snipit of airtime is enough to put you on the radar.

You are probably better off not getting entrenched in 19 Management anyway, from the former contestants (Tamyra Gray and Nikki McKibbin) who wanted to do their own music and were told NO... you don't seem like the type of artist that belongs with American Idol... and if you only tried out in hopes of getting exposure but not to win (great, savy business judgement) if you don't have an agent.. get one!

Erin

February 22, 2007

Tami....what were they thinking not putting you through to the final 24??? Some of the girls left there have left me scratching my head. For one, Antonella. The girl can't sing and she makes it over you. No way! Highway robbery. Keep on keeping on! You will make it!

Peggy

February 22, 2007

You were fabulous on AI. Not sure how you went from 1000% by Simon to not getting in the top 24 since your time during Hollywood week wasn't shown. But I will say you are much better than at least half of the "24" they did send through.

Sherry

February 21, 2007

Tami,
You are awesome! I thought you could've gone all the way on AI. OH, well...what do they know?
You must come and perform in Manhattan soon. I think You are sooooo ready!! et me know!

grumpy_otter

February 21, 2007

Just wanted to say that I think you are an AMAZING performer, and I enjoyed you the most of all the Idol contestants. You have a distinctive style that perhaps doesn't fit their mold--but I'd be willing to bet you are still making albums when the rest have been forgotten. Go, girl!

(No upcoming show dates? )

February 21, 2007

oh my goodness. i usually watch american idol just for the "bad" auditions.. but this year you and sean michel won me over in your auditions. i was all psyched when you got to the approved room.. then all of a sudden i was crushed! so i went all around trying to find out your name and if you had a cd. and you do! so yay for me! i get to buy your cd! you have so much soul in your voice i can't wait to hear more :) keep on rockin babe!

Kyle

February 20, 2007

I only half watch AI, but saw your Whipping Post performance and it blew me away. I finally had some time to hunt you down and am psyhed that you have this site and your own music. You don't need Idol. One day you will find success on your own terms and it will be all the sweeter.

Idol did prove to be a bit different last season...in the fact they let another TRUE artist win the thing. Taylor is a genuine soulful being who didn't fit their mold and still doesn't.
Thankful for originality!!
It is too bad that you did not get to show the nation yourself for longer than you did, but thanks again for auditioning. Can't wait for my CD.

February 20, 2007

American Idol was created by businessmen who developed a recipee for what they thought would be success for them. Although many talented people have appeared on the show and without the show some would never have been 'discovered' or at least vaulted to the front of the line as 'overnight' success.

The truth of the matter is is that the truly great, interesting and talented contestants do not make it through on occassion because the the show is about having people fit some preconceived notion of what a star should be. It's like creating a boy band without caring for who's in it, so long as it sells. They groom you to market you and tell you what to sing week by week. They even give you a song at the end of the season if you manage to make it to that point, to be your first single. You have to sing a variety of songs from a variety of era's that you're supposed to make your own and quite frankly it seems a bit theatrical at times and painful to watch at others.

I would much rather watch you perform and stay true to yourself and the spirit of your music than see you blasted for not quite making a believable performance of something once sung by Donny and Marie Osmond or on Yee Haw.

You are far better than that. I am glad to have caught your audition, I think in a very short time you were able to convey your style and talent and love of music. It is a shame us new found fans of yours will not get to see you entertain us for the next few months, but I'm certainly glad I was able to find your website and look forward to hearing more of your music in the future.

February 19, 2007

What's up? Haven't seen you in forever. So glad to hear about you on American Idol. My Dad's been keeping me informed for years on ya. Didn't see AI but I already know you rock- can't believe you didn't win it all. Keep going after it- you'll get there. I'll have to pick up one of those cd's soon so I can hear ya again. Keep in touch-- Later, Vicki

Hi there Tami - I am a fan from London UK. You have a great voice! (Yes, of course, I heard you first on Americal Idol, and it is their loss for not selecting you to the top 24!)

February 18, 2007

Outstanding stuff. Relly dig the acoustic emphasis. Hope you can one day break free of the "regional phenomna" label that my favorite band, BoDeans, has lived in since the 80's.

Tami...*so* not right that you're not on Idol any longer. What were they thinking? (or not thinking!)But then....it has made many many people notice you, so keep singing, and smiling....and tour Scotland!

Tami, we are just all still totally in shock that they didn't continue with you on AI. You did great, there will be none better and we know you will go far! Lots of folks here in your hometown are in a big downer over it and so very proud of you and how wonderful you did...and with such grace and your big smile still! Here's to even better things for you and we love ya and your music and unique sound!! WOW-what an accomplishment to get in the top 75 from over 50,000 (and with those judges)!!!

Hi, I'm from London and have tonight just seen the 24 final selected. I'm shocked you were not included. You are great and loads of people on UK forums agree that Simon & Co are nuts for putting through the same type of contestants, you are unique in today's market. Your too good for AI anyway, their loss, look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Good luck

February 16, 2007

Tami, I see you have already gotten lots of love and support from those of us who saw you on Idol. The minute you sang during your audition, there was something amazing about you and your voice. I see I am not alone and that you have countless new fans. I think you created more buzz than many of the people who made it through. Regardless, I'm glad I have gotten to hear your music. You have one more new fan to add to your list!!!

Tami,
I just saw that you didn't go through to the finals. I have to say I am very dissapointed. What in the world were they (the judges) thinking?! You should have gone on to the final 12 for sure. I had you picked as the "chosen one". Girl you can sing and have the most wonderful feel about you. Thanks for auditioning and thanks for giving me another great artist to enjoy. Love your music. ~Lisa

February 16, 2007

I was stunned and disappointed that you weren't given the opportunity to show America what a real artist is.I honestly believe that they were afraid of you taking the country by storm, leaving them with no competition. If they could only see that great talent draws more viewers than drama among wannabees. If you ever bring your show to the Boston area, you can be sure that I will be front and center. Keep on keepin on!!

You now have a super gay fan Brooklyn. Isn't that all you've ever wanted (?) I am soooo glad I saw you on idol! I missed the show that you sang on but thanks to Rickey.org and Michel Slezak at ET.com I was able to hunt down your whipping post audition and become an addict.
Can't wait for you to come to NYC

just another fan from your brief moment on network tv. i had already decided you were my favorite and while i won't be voting for you on the show, i am thrilled to have had the opportunity to be introduced to your talent. thank you for taking the time to audition. even though you were foolishly cut, the comments here show what a lasting impression you made.

Hey Tami (and fellow fans)...

Don't let it get you down. Look at it this way, even from your brief time on Idol, you have gained sooooo many fans who can't wait to hear more from you. You have something special, you Are someone special. Get ready girl- the only whippin post in your future is the one you'll be singing about on your next album.

You didn't really want to have to sell out and conform to all those AI restrictions anyway, did ya?

Keep us posted on your upcomings. You've got all our support!

When one door closes, another opens... We love ya!

Carol

February 16, 2007

Tami,

AI messed up big time! I was so impressed with and looking forward to voting for you. Does it have anything to do with your already having an album out? I have to imagine it is something on the peripheral as you are an amazing singer with a terrific presence.

So, I can't vote for you the way I might have liked to but I will "vote" for you by buying your CD. I hope you reap lots of success in that way from your AI appearance. Best wishes to you.

I was SHOCKED that you didn't make it through, Tami!! Those people are crazy. America's ready for something else-- something even edgier than Chris D-- and would have voted for you every time, including me (and I've made it a point to never get involved in AI voting before). We were all waiting for you, and now you're unleashed and can do whatever the hell you want. Go with it, girl. We dig your style.

February 15, 2007

I also stalked you down from AI. You were the only one I was interested in seeing thru (well, also maybe the heavy black Aretha-like bank teller chick from KY). I ordered you're CD. When will the pedicab quad workout DVD be out ;-)

Cora

February 15, 2007

Well, like everyone else has said already, I was truly bummed that TPTB chickened out and booted you. You are a breath of fresh air - something sorely needed on that show. Your soul, guts, personality, and musicality made this old guitar playin' hippie dyke's heart proud and glad. I mean, "Whipping Post!!?" My jaw dropped in astonishment. So. Very. Cool.
Buying your CD soon, and hoping to see you around the great Northwest someday soon. You rock, woman!

Andrea

February 15, 2007

It's absolute crap that you were cut from AI. You were my early favorite. Hope you come through NY soon and good luck.

Karen

February 15, 2007

Hi Tami. Saw you on American Idol. I was in my 20s and 30s in the 60s and 70s. Some of my favorite music artists from that time were (and in some cases still are) The Beatles, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, The Mamas and the Poppas, and Janis Joplin. Even though I'm older now I still closely follow the music scene. Just a few of my favorite current music artists are Cold Play, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rascal Flatts, James Blunt, Nora Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, Gnarls Barkley, and - now add to that list - Tami Gosnell! Your voice has a great, fresh sound, and I love your personality lots. Also I love the style of music you play - the acoustic guitar and rock edge to your music are wonderful. Even though you didn't get through to the finals, you did get some great exposure. But the show sure would have been much better with you in it - to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. (Not sure WHAT Simon, Randy, and Paula were thinking - maybe they've got something special in mind for you????) In my opinion, I think the voting public would have made you the winner for sure! Anyway, lots more people now know who you are. I hope that exposure brings you some major backers in getting your music known and out to the public. If you haven't been snapped up yet, I'm sure you soon will be. Best of luck to you Tami!

Amy

February 15, 2007

My partner and I (along with my mom) were OUTRAGED when you were cut last night on AI. We thought you rocked from the start. And we didn't even get to see you perform on air. You were robbed.

We just bought your CD and can't wait to hear more of you! Rock on!

Idol... please. They're just looking for some good drama. You were the bests. Hands down. My wife and I were getting excited because we were sure you were in and finally there was going to be something worth watching on idol.

I guess you should of got into an argument with someone and kissed someone to stir up a little Drama. Idol is Crap in my book. Except for the fact that a lot of people now know about you.

Come on down to Ga.

Kim

February 15, 2007

If there is one good thing to say about AI, at this point, it's that you have a lot of new fans b/c of the show. I am certainly one of them!! You are incredible!!!!

Wendy

February 15, 2007

For what it's worth...I'm sure you made some new fans with the 'idol' experience. I, for one, kept saying "Tami is the only one I'm really interested in hearing". I was really looking forward to seeing you in the finals!!!!! But, hang in there! Your music is great.

February 15, 2007

Are Simon and Randy sharing that bottle with Paula or what? Man, you should've gone through! Oh well, there's a different plan for you I guess. Once again, loved the CD and thanks for signing it! Please come to Texas sometime. Oh, by the way, your name was mentioned on msnbc.com. Just in case you didn't know. Girl, leave ya' and keep on keepin' on!!!!

I am so completely blown away that Idol did not pick up on your truly amazing talent. My mouth dropped when they said you didn't make it through. If they want cookie cutter girls, that's what they got, with the exception of a few. I was so excited thinking, "finally! A true rock chick!" Your rendition of Whipping Post gave me chills and does again even as I think about it, writing this e-mail. You keep on doing what you're doing, girl. It's their loss! Lucky for us, the show at least got your name out there and it looks like a whole lotta people saw the spectacular talent you possess. You might want to be on the lookout out for the next installation of the show "Rock Star." They appreciate rockers and I don't think they'd let you slip away. I will be buying your CD and looking out for whatever greatness your future holds. Take care and thank you for keeping the rock chick alive!

AI just screwed totally up. You were the best thing on that stupid show. Your audition was unbelievable, and I think you sing from the heart. Count me and a million others as new fans.I am telling everyone I know about the site and your cd.

I was so crushed last night when you got cut from AI. You were my absolute favourite! When you sang "Whipping Post" I almost fell over. It was amazing. And it doesn't help that that is one of my all time favourite songs! I hope you find yourself touring the east coast soon. I'm in Charlotte too and I don't even know Tara that posted just before me!

Keep on keeping on. You so totally rock!

I saw your audition and chose you as my favorite for the competition on American Idol. Somebody at that show caught a bad case of stupid! I am buying a CD and will be watching for you to come my way (Charlotte, NC) when you start touring. Be true to you and I look foward to hearing more of your voice - Tara

I adore you. I felt very sad to learn that you didn't make. But I am glad to know about you, and have more people know about you. To me, you are a legend in the making. As long as you are doing what you wanna be doing, that's everything you need right there. It's a damn shame you're not here in Norway.

I'm glad that you were on AI so that so many people were able to meet you, hear you and find out about your music. I am especially glad that I was one of them! I look forward to your continued magic ...
